Turns my car into an airplane

Fun application. Turns my car into an airplane, and makes my kids feel like a copilot. I had to look up the instructions for a moment first, but got it quickly. Has a great entertainment value, is educational and fun. Worth the money.

Love it

Cant wait to try this in flight, as a backup, of course :). Looks very well done!

GPS not working well

the bank and pitch thing is cool and fun... But it showed GPS locked light, and +/- 73 ft etc... but EVERY TIME I used it Altitude VARRIED by HUNDREDS of feet... Im at 480 MSL, and it said as low as 200, and then restart and said over 1200.... Not even close... cool concept, poor implimentation, for $5.99 the altitude should at least work

Junk

Not worth 99 cents much less 5 dollars. Developer must fix altitude, speed, pitch error and slip ball. Completely disingenuous of them to charge for this app. Dont waste your money until some serious updates take place.

DOESNT Work in the plane! Works fine in the car.

I thought it would be a great emergency back-up in the plane, but its NOT. In coordinated flight it always depicts straight and level, whether your in a steep turn, climb or decent. Further, the display was very jittery from the engine vibration and different RPM settings didnt remedy this problem. Additionally, as soon as you lose cell reception, the airspeed, alt and compass displays go inop. It works fine in the car, and its a neat novelty but DONT try to fly with it. As long as you understand that, you wont be dissapointed.

Very Very Cool

Fantastic! I’m teaching our 12 year old to fly. Great educational tool. We use it during flight and for post-flight and preflight discussions. The iHUD offers great visuals for a glass cockpit tutoring and enhanced situational awareness. We are aware of the published limitations. Fun in the car too, highly recommended!!

My personal PFD

Wonderful app! Great graphics, looks like the PFD in my airplane. I have not used it in flight but I have in the Sim and the car, works great! My wife who is a Private Pilot loves to play with it!

Really junk

Wish there was a no star option, waste of 6 dollars

Program is near perfect!

Amazing graphics & responce time. Only limitation is the accuracy of the iphone GPS, but it does far better then other programs. The accelerometer based artifical horizon is only good when stationary (basicly a 3D level) or when no outside acceleration takes place (never while moving). A few suggestions: 1. Add a lock option & indicator for the artificial horizon. Just to shut it down so the other useful indications which are accurate can be read without distraction. 2. I would love to be able to have input options for outside data by cable or bluetooth for more accurate hardware such a a real gyroscope, external GPS, etc. I love the ability to adjust several of the parameters such as the compass bearing & speed indicators. Please add more options like those along with the ability to lock out readings. Overall, excellent program with a lot more potential. Well worth the $ for the amount of engineering put into this program. Look forward to new features & hopefully external inputs!

Pretty cool

Can the gps work with the new itouch. I know normal gps doesnt work at my house. Someone give me an awnser

Good Learning Tool Updated for 3.0

There is obviously a lot of work in the development here. Its a fun display with authentic features and excellent graphics, and also educational to see and play with something so similar to displays found in an aircraft instrument panel. Its cool to use in the car as well, providing fairly accurate trends for heading, speed and altitude, especially for the person riding shotgun. Hardware and system limitations are apparent, and illustrate the large gap between an instrument costing thousands and an inexpensive tool for fun and learning plus you can do a dive and low pass over your keyboard for grins. Looking forward to further upgrades as the hardware becomes more capable. Still, definitely worth $5.99

Nice Graphics and Design

Nice program. Works pretty well but, not perfect while in-flight. This is mainly due to the fact that the AI bounces around. Make sure you press the calibrate button once you are in level flight. Remember that this should not be used for actual navigation.

iHUD a nice motion information system

Very cool app displaying accurately motion information. Works well for me in cars. Very nice and crisp graphics, even smoother and faster with the new OS 3.0.

Request:

The graphics with the red xs when no gps needs to be not displayed. Thank you.

Glass Cockpit iHUD

iHUD! What a neat iPhone app; it is entertaining cleaver, uniquely authentic, has a brilliant visual display, and is extremely educational. I totally appreciated the thoroughness of iHUD’s creator for his complete directions on the web site for the app’s usage. The newest 2.0 version that just came out appears to be a major upgrade. And for free! The speed display is more stable, acurate and extremely smooth. The display has a MODE button which, features three different views: a camera overlay, a night windshield projection capability, and the original blue sky with a new life-like horizon. The Magnetic Compass, offered to the iPhone 3GS , is also intergrated in this new 2.0 version. All these new features are an awesome addition to an already excellent application.

Great iHUD app

iHUD works flawlessly as advertised. Beautiful graphics, very responsive. Awesome speed, vertical speed, altitude, and compass animations. This version together with the new iPhone 3GS the graphics display even better. Version 2.0 is amazing! Great new features with Augmented Reality (AR) using the camera together with the multi function motion display. The reflective view for night projection onto the windshield is quite a nice feature. And all this as a free upgrade! Way worth all five stars. The user controllable attitude display smoothing is a very useful addition in version 2.1.

Ihud

Fantastic program-lots of fun-very usable

Doesnt Work

This app does not work in the aircraft. It will load but does not detect pitch or roll changes. I paid for this thinking it would make a backup attitude indicator in case of vacuum failure and it is useless. Dont waste your money!

Okay, you got me...

I guess if Im stupid enough to buy this, then you deserve to keep my money. A fellow pilot told me about this app but I bought it 1 day too early. He called me the next day and send "dont buy it". He flew with it and said its junk and its really not meant for anything other than pretend. Ive downloaded a couple of other apps that I can fly IFR with (although not certified by the FAA-- thats why it was $2.99). But there are apps out there that can do everything this apps says it can do. Its a shame, it has a great design, vivid graphics, has lots of potential but its crap for real flight. I suppose Ill give it to my son and tell him to pretend like hes flying.

I-hud

This is so cool and simple. You wonder why the aviation people cant come up with these inexpensive ideas. Great job!
